Please PRETTY PLEASE ditch sourceforge

As far as I can tell, their UX is like 1 billion times worse than either
GitHub or Bitbucket/Stash. Of the 3 I would urge for ATS to move to GitHub.
It is the least offensive in terms of UXability in my experience.

Should anybody search for “ats lang” on the web, fool they, the first hit
(google, ddg, bing, yahoo, etc.) is ats-lang.org which afaict leads to
Sourceforge based downloads / sources.

There’s nothing on any of the old site(s) saying clearly “Please use the github repo, this current site is deprecated” or
something helpful like that.

I just can’t fathom how people wasting their time on these old honeypots is
doing ATS any good in terms of uptake. I don’t really want ATS to fail in
spite of itself.

I have used Bitbucket for personal use for ever.

We switched to Stash at work and while I have lots of complaints about
GitHub not being as good as it could be, I was impressed that Stash has
managed to be actively worse all 'round!!

Yes, I think I know your feeling about sourceforge very clearly

But there are still users who use the version of ATS2 distributed at
sourceforge.
They probably should have switched to github or bitbucket, but they have
not yet.

At this point, all the development of ATS2 is hosted at github. If I get
rid of the sourceforge
repos, then I have to make changes to CI scripts and also links in various
webpages. Given
the very limited resources I have, I have to postpone such changes. I so
wish that I could
hire just one person to help :)On Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2:25:41 AM UTC-4, Raoul Duke wrote:

oh. OK! that’s great! I will try that! thanks

I guess then my “please PRETTY PLEASE” has been transmuted into: please,
PRETTY PLEASE, get rid of, delete, erase, remove, bury all the other old
sites. It is really confusing, frustrating.

I prefer Bitbucket by a bunch but YMMV.On May 6, 2016 12:55 AM, “Raoul Duke” rao...@gmail.com wrote:
